MAJOR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY SOLAR ROOF TOP MANUFACTURERS, 10 MEGAWATTS TO BE PURCHASED FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS

Recently, electricity costs have risen to 4.72 baht per unit and are likely to rise again in 2023 - estimated to reach more than 5 baht per unit. This is due to the price of liquefied natural gas or LNG, in the form of Spot LNG having risen considerably. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) therefore needs to accelerate or incentivize the public sector to pay attention to solar rooftop projects for the residential sector with current installed capacity of no more than 10 kilowatts.

The goal is to purchase surplus electricity of 10 megawatts per year, divided into the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) 5 MW and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) 5 MW at the purchase price that 2.20 baht per unit for a 10-year power purchase period. Importantly, this public solar project will also help support Thailand’s move towards clean energy and reduce Net-Zero Emissions by 2065.
