THAILAND'S ROADMAP ON CLEAN ENERGY AND PURSUIT OF NET ZERO WHILST BALANCING ECONOMIC, SOCIETY AND ENVIRONMENT NEEDS

The Ministry of Energy has revised the National Energy Plan. The revised plan is divided into 4 approaches:

50% increasing the production and use of electricity from renewable energy sources

Use of Electric Vehicle from clean energy

30% Production optimization to be more efficient

Adjusting the infrastructure of various energy systems to support the 4D1E guidelines.

Energy Management for the future is to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality and the Ministry is focusing on 3 important areas: 1. Infrastructure development which focuses on investments in clean energy by bringing in more digital technologies compliant with low-carbon technology, 2. Market adjustment and price structures need to be more competitive and have more freedom to meet the needs of decentralized energy. 3. To improve the law regarding supervision, the government is to promote the market for production and use of various low-carbon technologies which have a greater proportion of renewable energy and better efficient use of energy.

Thailand is the leader in ASEAN in the energy sector. This has attracted major investments in all areas and made the country the top regional business destination for those in the energy businesses.
