In the coming years, a significant technological transformation is expected to revolutionize the landscape of electric vehicles (EVs). Innovations in battery development, the proliferation of faster public charging stations, and the increasing utilization of solar energy will play pivotal roles in this transition.
With regard to public charging stations, there will be a shift towards the standardization of faster chargers, some capable of up to 2050 kilowatts, offering swift recharging abilities. Moreover, there will be a trend towards integrating private home chargers with solar cells and panels, potentially enabling bi-directional charging, allowing EV owners to contribute energy back to their households when needed.
Thailand has been witnessing a gradual but steady growth in its public charging infrastructure, currently boasting over 4600 public charging sockets spread across approximately 1200 locations nationwide. Approximately 38% of this infrastructure comprises DC fast chargers, meeting the surging demand from EV owners for intercity travel.
As Thailand gears up to become the regional hub for EVs, the time is ripe for progress by companies within the Thai EV industry. Electric Vehicle Asia 2024 (EVA), Southeast Asia's longest-running EV show, is set to be the preeminent regional show for all stakeholders involved in the electric vehicles sector. This event will bring together manufacturers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and industry players involved in the entire EV ecosystem, from upstream to downstream aspects of the EV industry on a global scale.
The show will showcase the latest in EV technologies and innovations, encompassing batteries, equipment, parts, chargers, infrastructures, and other related products. Anticipated to host over 200 EV companies and draw more than 33,000 EV professionals from 60 countries, this event will be the nucleus of the industry.
