Boilers is a steam generator that changes the water inside the boiler from a liquid state into steam. It is mostly produced from steel materials. The steam produced from the boiler will be used in all industries. From petrochemicals, food, beverages to buildings.

Boilers can be classified into 3 main types:
|
1. Fire tube boiler: Fire is inside the tubes, and water is outside the tubes, Pressure is not more than 150 psi. Suitable for small-scale industries such as rice mills, paper mills, animal feed mills, and canned fruit factories.
Advantages: Low cost and Good for the distribution of steam
Disadvantages: Long start-up time, High weight, Low heat transfer efficiency (If the heat transfer is high, it will be exploded)

2. Water tube boiler: Water is inside the tubes, and fire is outside the tubes, Pressure is higher than 150 psi and offers high production capacity. Mostly, it’s suitable for large-scale industries such as steam turbine, sugar plants, oil refineries, petrochemical industries, and seagoing vessels.
Advantages: Good flow of water, High heat transfer efficiency, Short start-up time, Ability to produce steam at high volume and Safer than fire tube boilers
Disadvantages: High cost, High maintenance cost, Requires high-quality water due to easy to have slag

3. Hybrid Boiler: Combines the technologies of fire tube and water tube boilers delivers high efficiency and safety. Suitable for industries that require high-quality steam, high steam volume.
Advantages: Good steam quality, High steam storage capacity and High heat storage capacity
Disadvantages: High cost and new technology, not widely adopted yet
