"EV, RENEWABLE ENERGY, BIO-PLASTIC”
HELPED THAILAND’S BCG PROGRESS 30%
|
Thailand has set the target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20-25% or 111-139 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030 to assist solving global warming problems. The government has been promoting the country’s development of the BCG or Bio-Circular-Green Economy. It has progressed and reached the target of over 30%. In the next phase, the remaining 70% is expected to be achieved earlier than expected. In the government’s flagship Eastern Economic Corridor, Innovation Zone or EECI, a bio-refinery has been set up that can separate substances from various agricultural products. There are also operational bioplastics manufacturers in Thailand. The country is one of the first countries in the world that operates a biomass power plant and hydro-floating solar. There is a high demand for buying electric vehicles and also major investments from both domestic and foreign manufacturers.
